Combined Sewer Overflow Relief Projects

bfrcsoThis program involves installing new sewer pipes in areas of the city with combined sewers to help:

  • protect homes from basement flooding,
  • protect the water quality in the rivers and Lake Winnipeg by reducing the frequency of combined sewer overflows.

In area of construction traffic may be limited to local area access. Construction will take place from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional work in the evenings and on weekends

Since we began this program in 1977, we have invested more than $290 million improving the City’s sewer system.

Where are the CSO drains located along the Assiniboine river? Also, when are sewer upgrades planned for the Osborne Village area? Since my building has had three major sewage/flooding events in less than six weeks, it’s time for the city to take immediate action. Bike lanes and rapid transit might be sexier, but the residents of the five units here have been living in deplorable conditions for close to two months now. Restoration is starting but we need protection from another event.
